(And your daily dose of alliteration) 🤭

This past weekend was one of the absolute best weekends I’ve had in a very, very long time.

Back in October, Chris won a weekend break voucher for two at the Westin Dragonara Resort through a raffle. We ended up booking for March which I thought was too far away, but honestly it couldn’t have come at a better time.

With just a couple of months to the wedding and high levels of stress and pressure in our lives, on top of the fact that we only ever meet on weekends and don’t really speak much throughout the week, it was actually timed perfectly.

So after a crazy stressful week, Chris and I went to check in on Friday evening, with no expectations other than to finally relax and spend some well-needed quality time together.

Right from when we walked in, our expectations were raised. The staff was lovely, the room was gorgeous, and everything just felt perfect. Granted, it’s a 5* hotel, but we’re not even remotely used to this kind of experience, so it made it even more special.

We decided to get room service for dinner because we were feeling fancy (and lazy), and we had a lovely burger and a bottle of wine. We also got a dessert which was very tasty, although somewhat overpriced in our opinion, but we figured we’d spoil ourselves a bit while we had the chance.

Saturday morning; buffet breakfast (included in the prize). Good Lord we ate so much food. We ate enough to not need lunch, which is really saying something cause we’re pigs. (Ok I lie, we went to Subway for a late lunch in the afternoon but it was really more of a snack.)

Chris wanted to go to the gym, and since I (conveniently) didn’t pack any of my gym stuff, I decided to pamper myself and treat myself to a much-needed facial because – get this – I’m 25 and I’ve never had a facial in my life. And my skin is a mess so it’s not like I don’t need them. #acneproblems

It lasted about an hour and it was so wonderful – I felt so relaxed and rejuvenated afterwards. Then we went to the indoor pool and jacuzzi for about 20 minutes and headed back to our room to prepare for our dinner date.

Side note: It turns out that The Westin actually has a lending scheme for gym clothes which lets you order training gear in your size and they’ll deliver it to your room. I realised this after I’d booked the facial and to be honest, I didn’t really feel like training. But it’s a very cool thing to offer so I thought I’d mention it.

We booked dinner at Palio’s Restaurant which is one of Westin’s itself, and it was lovely. The food was delicious, the service was fantastic, and it was very well priced too.

Sunday morning – another buffet. Once again, we stuffed our faces with more delicious food and then forlornly went to pack our things ready for check-out.

All in all, it was a truly fantastic weekend… a very well-needed break full of relaxing quality time with my favourite pain person in the world. šŸ’•

[This is definitely not an ad, but I will happily and strongly recommend The Westin to anyone looking for an ideal getaway resort as it really was a dream.]

That’s all for now. Hope you enjoyed this little update about my mini luxury experience.

Until next time,

Cricket x
