This weekend, Chris and I enjoyed a lovely getaway back at the place where it all began.

We got married at the beautiful Amazonia , and part of our wedding package included a free weekend stay for our 1st anniversary. Since the hotel was closed due to Covid, though, we had to delay, and I’ll be honest… I’m glad that things worked out the way they did.

On our actual anniversary, we went out for a lovely dinner, but I wasn’t in the best of places mentally as my grandmother was nearing the end of her life. I actually had a blog post prepared but I wasn’t up to sharing it. I’ve written many drafts over the past few months – hopefully I’ll feel up to sharing them with you some time soon. 🙂

But back to this weekend. I’m sure you’d all relate to how welcome a weekend break is right now given the situation we’re facing. And it was just what we needed.

We’re not really the kind to get out and about, we don’t spend much time in the sun and don’t ever really go anywhere on weekends unless we’re running errands, so this was perfect for some well-needed relaxing (and tanning)!

One of my favourite things was how the whole setting really reminded us of our honeymoon. Our perfume and outfits were some of the ones we wore for it, and the idea of being away, treating ourselves, and just being alone together really brought that giddy feeling back. 🥰

It was so lovely to just enjoy each other’s company, soak up some sun, reminisce about the wedding and talk about the future, indulge in food and simply be together. And also getting our mind off the news and this terrible situation altogether. Billie was in good hands at my brother & his girlfriend’s place, enjoying a sleepover with his cousin / best friend Simba (the Lab Pointer). 😍

I hate to say it, but the only thing that ‘ruined’ the weekend and make us cut our stay short was the rude, loud, and insubordinate locals who seem to think they run the place. I honestly felt bad for the tourists. (Pity the Maltese can’t go back to their own country when they’re already in it.) 🙄

Buuuut anyway, as our friend Eileen says, all’s well that ends well. I’m now snuggling up with a very sleepy Billie on the sofa, prepared to face another busy week.

Photo time! 🤩

Chris isn’t a big fan of being featured in my blog (he’s not an air-conditioner either, for those wondering) [lol I’m so funny] but I’ve seemingly hired him as my photographer. Also, pretty views and yummy food! 😍

Until next time,
