It’s officially Autumn! Summer 2018 is officially over, and although I’m definitely a summer person, there are many things that I look forward to about winter, particularly at this time of year when rainy weather starts kicking in and the days become shorter and cooler.
So in preparation for the upcoming months, I have decided to list some of the things that I’m excited about. Apart from raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens (although I’ve never seen a kitten without them tbh), here are a few of my favourite things about autumn and winter:
God I love boots. Short boots, long boots, fluffy boots, leather boots, flat boots, high-heeled boots – you name it, I love them all. They’re first on my list because they’re the first thing I get excited about when summer starts nearing its end. In general, I don’t like feet, and boots are the perfect shoes to cover them up. They’re stylish, supportive, and incredibly comfy. And speaking of comfy things that cover feet…
Anyone who doesn’t love fluffy socks is a psychopath. I’m pretty sure there’s been a series of scientific studies to prove that. Fluffy socks are one of the best things in the world and if you disagree, then I have no place for you in my life. 💁
Jumpers and Hoodies
There’s something that I find incredibly comforting about long sleeves, especially slightly oversized ones that I can pull over my hands. I just love how snuggle-worthy winter clothes are. Oh and who doesn’t love wearing their boyfriend’s hoodies? (Chris thinks he’s going to get his back one day… lol bless his sweet soul).
I absolutely love wearing beanies. They’re like boots for your hair – stylish, supportive, and super comfy. Call me self-absorbed, but I also feel that I’m automatically upgraded to a state of adorableness when I wear them, especially the ones with a fluffy pompom. Same applies for my favourite jacket with a fluffy hood. (I like all things fluffy.) I’m basically a chipmunk. 🐿
And last but not least…
Ok guys, you should know from now that I’m a Christmas freak. I start counting down from about August, start working on wish and gift lists from around the same time, and I’m a sucker for Christmas music and decorations. *Heart rate increasing rapidly just from thinking about it*
Fairy lights, candles, Christmas carols (Pentatonix whadup), and all the other points from my list… ahhh what a dream. 93 days to go! 😍
Other honourable mentions include warm drinks and soups, scarves, winter pjs and slippers, the smell in the air after the rain, and nature’s gorgeous colour palette. I would also include crispy leaves, snow, and fireplaces, but those are more of a wish-list since I don’t ever really get to enjoy any of them. 💔
There are of course a number of things I don’t like about the colder seasons, but right now I’m focusing on the positive. Maybe I’ll write about those when I’m sick of winter in a few months’ time. 😇
Until next time,
